Camp Krem's Got Talent!

Christian and his band singing The Rolling Stones

The air was electric and we were all so proud to see our campers up on stage singing and dancing to their favorite numbers at our talent show! From The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix, to Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, to stand-up comedy, it was a fantastic evening of talent!

Jon & his back-up dancers!

Our judges were so impressed, everybody got the perfect score of 10! The audience thoroughly enjoyed all the performances and almost everyone was up on their feet dancing and clapping to each act!
Our judges rocking out!

Pirate Day

Ahoy, me hearties! Pirate day was a lot o' fun! We had lots o' great pirate-themed activities, includin' diggin' for buried treasure, makin' eye patches in arts and crafts, hikin' in search o' a pirate, lots o' swimmin' and three-legged races! We had a pirate scavenger hunt in th' evenin'! Each cabin group had to travel around camp to find 'n decipher all the clues, which eventually led them up to th' pool! Thar they discovered a scurvy pirate was holdin' our dear Kevin (our custodian) hostage! After a wee bit o' barterin' wit' the pirate and a swordfight, goodness prevailed, we freed Kevin 'n the scurvy pirate was made to walk the plank!

Session Four Thus Far - campfire, dancing and hippies!

We are all having an absolute blast so far this session! The first night was full of energy at the campfire, where each cabin group took turns going up on stage to introduce themselves and sing a song!

Day two consisted of lots of swimming, dancing and hiking! Our evening program was a dance party and Temple of Boom (a camp classic, in which the counselors dress up as celebrities and put on a show) - we all went to bed happy and tired!

Tuesday was very groovy - we had hippie day!!! We made beautiful headbands with flowers and feathers, made drums AND did tie-dye in arts & crafts! We went exploring through the hiking trails and took time to appreciate nature. We also did pet therapy with three cute little Dachshunds that Mary, our Executive Director, is pet-sitting! Relaxing and connecting with the dogs was really enjoyable! We sat on the lawn to play and snuggle with them, and campers took turns holding, brushing and feeding the dogs treats.

Our night activity, Kremstock was a tremendous amount of fun. We did face painting, parachute games and protest sign making. Everybody had different issues they felt strongly about:

Once everyone's protest signs were complete, we marched down the driveway to Outdoor Camp, where everybody painted their hands and left their handprint on the barn! We finished off the evening standing together in a circle and sang songs, while Derrick, one of our counselors played guitar!

Session Two Begins!

Smiles are plentiful here at Camp as Session Two gets into full swing! We are very happy to have so many new campers, as well as see all the returners - everybody is having a wonderful time making new friends!

Last night, due to the weather, we had our opening campfire in the Mess Hall, which was a lot of fun. Each cabin group got up on stage to introduce themselves then sing a song or do a dance! The fire was roaring in the fireplace and we all kept nice and warm busting moves to the music!

Today is Adventure Day!! We started out the morning with "Moment to Own It" - a daily activity where cabin groups compete in fun & goofy games with names like 'Noodlin' Around' and 'Shoe Fly'. The Moment to Own It game for today was a relay race - each team had to get a balloon from the start to finish, without touching it and using a squirt gun!

We then went on a long hike and along the way collected rocks, which we decorated in arts and crafts. Another fun arts and crafts activity today was making our very own superhero emblems!
Most chose not to swim, since it's pretty chilly, but there were a few brave campers and counselors who  jumped in! The rest of camp enjoyed munching on popcorn while watching a movie, doing aerobics and working in arts and crafts!

Tonight is the dance party and the costume closet is bustling with people picking outfits for tonight!! Stay tuned for more tomorrow!

70's Day!

 What a groovy day!

One of the day's highlights was doing tie-dye.. we tie-dyed so many beautiful, bright t-shirts!

The pool was open all day, since it was so hot, which was a big hit!

In Arts and Crafts, we also made hippie headbands (which we sewed flowers onto) and protest signs.

Our evening program was SO much fun. We started out in the garden, where we did face painting and made drums

Then began our protest! We marched up to the pool, all holding signs about the issues we felt strongly about.. more pool time, less mosquitos, more hot cocoa etc!!! Once we were at the pool, we splatter-painted the pool shack (an artistic protest!), then sat and had a drum circle, played guitar and sang!

60's Day!

Jessica checking out the schedule for the day.

Welcome to the swingin' 60's! In arts and crafts, each cabin made boats, which we raced later in the evening at the pool party. We went on several hikes, played basketball and practised our twist and the mashed potato for the evening's party!

In the evening, we all headed to the pool to boogie to The Beatles, The Beach Boys etc. After racing the boats that we made across the pool, we had a limbo competition and then gathered around to watch a baking soda and vinegar volcano erupt!
The boats sailing across the finish line!

Boat racing.

The campers really enjoyed watching some of the counselors and staff having a 'surf competition' in the pool and counted to see how long they could stay on the surfboard without falling off!

Rodney enjoying watching Leon in the surf contest!
After a LOT more dancing, to wind down for the evening, each cabin group lit tea light 'wish candles', made wishes and sent the candles floating across the pool. We sat for a while and enjoyed watching the candles drift across the water, then it was off to bed to dream about all the wishes we made.

50's Day!

50's day got off to a great start with Moment to Own it in the morning! Moment to Own it is Camp Krem's version of Minute to Win It - each cabin group competes in fun games and activities.

The day was busy and fun. We made chia pets in Arts and Crafts, played mini-golf, did mega bowling and played lots of parachute games! As well as, of course, plenty of dancing and hiking!

We also celebrated a very special birthday. Camp Krem's own Leon Wong had a birthday, so all the campers helped make and sign a birthday card for him.

Our night activity was a sock hop, with a special guest who came to DJ for us! We grooved the night away together, then headed to bed for a much needed rest!

Moment to Own It - start with a cookie on your forehead then get it into your mouth without using your hands!
